Hi everyone!
After receiving great feedback on facebook about poems, I thought it would be a great idea to get everyone to send in their poems so we could compile a book for our fundraising effort.
Please send in your work, don't be shy... you don't have to be a literary genius we like funny too! We need a wide range of poems so experiment as much as you like. The only rule: It must be related to gastroparesis in some way, but that could be anything that has changed for you since diagnosis.
Please post your poems in the comments box or you can contact us on Facebook using the links on the right x
Happy writing!
Much love

I really have never written a poem but I thought I'd give it a go...it's very childlike, so apologies in advance!! Wow..loads of work been done here, I'm off for a snoop around!! Love to all....Jax xx
ReplyDeleteGastroparesis and Me
What's wrong with me Dr and why am I sick?
It's only a virus, it'll be gone in a tick,
Days into months, then months into years
Life spent in bed and I'm drowning in tears.
People are kind, well at first you will see,
but longterm gets boring, watch them all flee
Weeks spent in hospital with Dr's scratching their head
When all you long for is your own comfy bed
Now we've found each other online, life seems a bit better
You can chat overnight, it's better than a letter
These lovely people who I probably won't meet
Are the ones who pick me up, back onto my feet
For all the things GP takes away
My nights on the razz, my work, rest and play
I've learned to cherish simple things in my life
I do my best to still be a good wife
Life is hard, I cannot deny,
When asked how I am, I've learned to lie
Fine is the answer they all want to hear
Maybe the reason is just down to fear
I long for the old me, the one deep inside,
She's buried somewhere, along with my pride,
I'll keep the faith, the hope for a cure
But I'm glad I found GIFT, that's for sure. <3
So lovely Jax, thank you!
